Numerical simulation of blood flow in the ventricle
Numerical simulation of blood flow in the ventricle
The Procope Medicals cardiac prosthesis is monobloc, totally intracorporeal and orthotopic. It mimics the physiology of the heart. The two ventricles, driven by an electro-pneumatic mechanism, are synchronous like the natural heart.
The two ventricles have their own hemodynamic regime, self-regulation and ensure an optimal response to the body’s needs.
The hemodynamics of the prosthesis is therefore analyzed by numerical simulation; this is an important part of our study on the biocompatibility and hemocompatibility of the prosthesis.
We use the latest innovations in numerical flow simulation (CFD) techniques, developed with our partners Erflow-Engineering, Fluide-Meca and Meca.
They allow to simulate the flow dynamics in the left ventricle, taking into account the deployment of the membrane during the complete ejection of the ventricle at each cycle. These methods based on error control ensure an accurate description of the flow in order to reduce the criticality of the device.
